About Me / Contact

My name is Ashley.  I am a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, nanny, friend, confidant, dance party partner, Sunday School director, student, crafter, cook, observer, and potentially much more.

For most of my 20's, I lived on Amy's frozen burritos.  I didn't really start cooking until a family I nannied for asked/trusted me to make dinner and ate whatever resulted.  Even with the stress of school and two jobs, cooking for them made me feel calm and centered.  I've only been in the kitchen a few short years, but I love learning new techniques and there is no shortage of recipes to try.

Like a growing number of people in their 20's and 30's, Paul and I are working really hard to pay down student debt.  With me working at a church and going to grad school and him working for a University, we're on a really, really, really tight budget.  Aside from a tiny amount of spending money we set aside each month, everything we have gets pumped into paying off loans.  Our meals need to be really affordable without sacrificing fun and flavor.

My goal with this blog is to share food that I enjoy and have enjoyed making.  I love recipes that are easy, accessible, full of flavor, and super budget friendly.

If I can inspire you to try something new or make something you didn't think you could, well, I can't ask for more than that.
I love hearing from people who read the blog and try the things I've posted.  Don't be shy!
